Okra Soup (ila alasepo)
  • Okra soup is a popular delicacy among the south west (Yoruba) in Nigeria. It is okra cooked together with stew. It is also known as ila alasepo in Yoruba. It is cheap and simple to make.
  1. Wash the Okra and cut into smaller pieces

  2. Wash the fish with water and salt

  3. Blend the scotch bonnet pepper into a smooth paste
  4. Place a clean pot on the fire then add water and potash

  5. Add the blended pepper into the boiling water on fire

  6. Add the fish, locust beans, seasoning cubes and salt and allow to boil

  7. After it boils remove the fish from the pot, placed in a bowl and Leave it aside

  8. Add the Okra into the pot on the fire and stir

  9. Then add the fish that was removed from the pot then allow to cook for 2minutes

  10. Add palm oil and allow to cook for 3minutes
