Spices are aromatic substances that come from the bark, roots, seeds, flowers, or fruits of plants. They are used in cooking and baking to add flavor, aroma, and color to food. Here are some common spices and their uses:

  2. Ginger – used in both sweet and savory dishes, such as gingerbread and stir-fries.
  3. Turmeric – commonly used in curries and also as a natural food colorant.
  4. Cloves – used in sweet dishes, such as pumpkin pie and spiced cider.
  5. Nutmeg – commonly used in sweet dishes, such as eggnog and fruit pies.
  6. Cumin – commonly used in savory dishes, such as chili and tacos.
  7. Coriander – used in both sweet and savory dishes, such as Indian curries and baked goods.
  8. Paprika – used as a spice and colorant in a variety of dishes, such as Hungarian goulash and Spanish paella.
