Okra (Okro) is also known as ila in Yoruba language. It is a good source of vitamins, mineral and fibers. Plain Okra is one of Nigerian simplest and Quickest soup you can cook in your kitchen. You can serve it plain or with buka stew. You can eat it with any swallow of your Choice such as Amala, Eba, Semo, Pounded yam.
- Measure your ingredients
- Wash the Okra with water and cut the okra into smaller size. Remove the stalk
- Put the cut okra in the blender and blend until desired coarse size is gotten.
- Put 2cups of water in a clean pot, add little potash (optional) and place on the fire to boil.
- When the water is bubbling and the potash has completely dissolve in the water, add the chopped Okra and stir together with spoon.
- Add mashed locust beans (Iru) to the Okra and Stir together
- Add Salt to taste.
- Cook for another 1minute and serve Okra plain or Buka stew and Swallow of your choice
