Meat pie is a snack which is made up of a pie crust and a rich filling of spicy meat and vegetables. It can be eaten with any drink of choice as a snack. It can also be served as a main a small chop for event or as a dessert.
- For the dough or pie crust, mix all the powdered ingredients flour, Benny or salt, in a clean bowl, add margarine and mix very well until it look like fine crumbs
- Add egg, milk and mix then add water little by little and mix well to form a firm dough
- Cover and allow to relax for 5mins
- For the filling, dice your vegetables into tiny cubes and set aside
- Pour vegetable oil in a clean dry pot and heat for about 2-3 secs. Add diced onions and fry until lightly brown, add minced meat and allow to fry for 3minutes.n
- Add other ingredients such as curry, seasoning cube and thyme. Fry for some time and add little quantity of water
- Allow to boil then add pepper and your already cooked Irish potatoes. Stir and allow to cook for 2mins, then add carrot, green pepper and spring onion and stir.
- Add thickener (cornstarch) and stir. After some time bring down the sauce and allow to cool
- Then cut and mould your dough into balls, before rolling out and moulding
- On the mould put 2-3 spoonful of the filling in the center, rub egg white at the edges and cover up.
- Grease your meatpie tray with margarine and arrange the meat pie inside the tray, brush the surface with egg white to give it a lustrous and brown appearance
- Bake in the oven for 15-20minutes
- Bring out from oven and serve preferably hot
