Akara is a well know Nigerian delicacy eaten with pap , bread etc this recipe happens to be a twist combining the beans or akara paste with the favorite accompaniment (bread) creating a balanced meal consisting of carbs and protein.
- Measure, clean,rinse and soak beans for 12 hours or over night
- Using an electric blender,blend soaked and washed beans with scotch bonnet peppers, onions, pour into a bowl after blending , add basically salt to taste and any other seasoning of your choice
- Arrange two slices of bread on a flat enamel cut in halves
- Dip in beans paste on both sides until completely submerged in paste
- Place the submerged bread in a clean flat enamel
- Set up a frying pan on medium heat pour in about 1/2 cup soyabean oil or alternatively peanut oil
- Place bread akara crochet on the pan containing the heated oil, fry until golden brown on both sides by gently flipping each sides to cook properly till golden brown color is obtained.
- Strain from oil and serve
- Serve and enjoy
