Awara

Awara also know as tofu or beske is a nice snack made from soya beans. It’s delicious and nutritious.

  1. Pick the soya beans then wash it
  2. Soak for some minutes after washing
  3. Peel and wash the soya beans until the skin is off
  4. Then you are going to blend it with water
  5. After blending, add water double the size of the soya beans paste and mix till it's watery
  6. Sieve and squeeze until all the milk is extracted
  7. Put the milk on fire and boil, please you need to put a tab on it to remove the coatings on top
  8. After 15 to 20 minutes, add in the lime juice
  9. Once the milk split, take it off the heat
  10. Separate the curd from the milk using a cheese cloth
  11. Add seasoning to it and put it back in a cheese cloth, tie it and place a heavy stone on top to ensure that all the water is gotten rid of
  12. Cut into desired shapes and sizes and place in a bowl of salted water
